How dynamic is your Salon?

In order for a salon to become dynamic one first has to understand the concept of dynamics.



Dynamics are the forces that influence your business on a minute by minute, hour by hour, day by day basis. In one of our previous blogs, we discussed the dynamic of ‘creating a success culture’. Achieving this success culture, together with the law of attraction, plays a very important role in getting clients coming back time and again.



Every dynamic needs to include strategies which define how you are going to achieve them.

Clients for example. Hair and beauty salons are totally dependent on their clientele. Any business can build a client data base, that’s not the problem. The problem is keeping them. All business lose clients – they move out of the area, can no longer afford you, go to your competition or simply leave because of poor service.

We really need two client strategies, one for attracting new clients and the second to monitor how many clients don’t come back and why!

Every business should have a ‘new client strategy’ and by far the most effective, as well as costing nothing more than a little effort, is getting referrals. Who is better qualified to refer their friends and colleagues than regular clients. It is a good idea to plant in your client’s mind that next time they receive a compliment about their hair get them to tell who their stylist is.

If your client is already on your loyalty programme, additional loyalty points is a good way of thanking  and rewarding them. Alternatively offer them a complimentary blow dry for every new client they send you.

Piggy-backing with other businesses that have similar clients to you is another way. Good signage, sponsorships, flyer drops etc are all additional ways to attract new business.  My Salon Software has a ‘client source’ field that becomes very useful when looking back to see where you are getting new clients from.
